What's at stake?

Structure/Rules:

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

1. Join the Discord! All skill levels are welcome. The goal of the group besides being a social platform during the cold weather months is to be (1) Fun (2) Rewarding, and (3) Accessible.

2. Add "Volktron" on PSN to find the rooms and party chats.

3. Show up!

That's it! We can talk/walk you through the rest. There are usually practice sessions throughout the week too in order to focus on "gitting gud".

What is the structure?

We host 2 "seasons" during the winter:

  • Season 7 will be December 4th, 2025 - January 29th, 2026
  • Season 8 will be February 5th, 2026 - March 26th, 2026

We run on Thursday nights starting around 8pm Eastern Time. There are typically 3 lobbies each week:

  • Group A: For the Top 12 in Season Points
  • Group B (2 lobbies): Lobbies for anyone not in Group A - a little more casual

Seasons are 7 events, with mostly your best 4 out of 7 events counting to seed you into a Season Finale event worth extra points. So even if you missed the first few weeks, or you have to miss other weeks - that's fine! But there's more to the league than collecting points anyway - this is mostly to keep the rust off and stay social.

  • Usually combinations are a wide mix of things, from autocross style Steet Class cars, to Gr2/3/4 races, to high downforce races (F1/Super Formula), to Meme Street clapped out comfort tire stuff - with the intent of all combos being easy to drive, but having some degree of challenge to master.

What else should I know?

  • New people are encouraged to participate (tell your friends); however, they must have a way to communicate either via PSN party chat or Discord (or preferably both)
    • On the night of the races, join the party chat that corresponds to the lobby you are entering.
    • Anyone joining that has either not joined the correct PSN party chat or the Discord (message Alex Piehl) by the time qualifying starts will be booted from the lobby
  • Don’t be a jerk and intentionally wreck people in the points races. We get things happens, no one’s perfect, and the group is intentionally composed of people with varying skill levels. This isn’t a SRS BZNS group, but save the shenanigans for later in the night. Don't make us have to police stuff. We do reserve the right to adjust points if necessary. If you do feel that there should be a points adjustment, please use the Steward's Channel in Discord and post the replay from various angles of both you and the person you feel wronged you's perspectives.
  • Given constant updates to the game from Polyphony Digital, please check back here and in the Discord frequently as some room settings may have changed to keep the races in the spirit of their original intent.

Points

  • Summary
    • Scores from both races, plus any fast lap or qualifying points are added up for a total weekly score
    • The formula for drop weeks is based on the number of weeks completed, with the number of drops being less than (but not equal to) half of the number of weeks completed.  So for example points calculated after completion of Week 1 would have 0 drops, Week 2 = 0 drops, Week 3 = 1 drop, Week 4 = 1 drop, Week 5 = 2 drops, Week 6 = 2 drops, etc.
    • Prior to the finale,  points are calculated as 100% points of your non-drop weeks, 50% of your next best drop week, and 25% of your 2nd best drop best week.
    • The Finale will add on to any points from prior weeks without impacting any "drop weeks".
    • If you do not select a car which complies with the rules for the race, or join the incorrect lobby, you will not receive points and anyone finishing behind you will move up in position
    • 25 points awarded for Overall fastest qualifier time between all lobbies
    • 25 points awarded to the person with the fastest lap for each lobby for each race
    • 15 points awarded for the person whose fastest lap is ranked 2nd of all fast lap times for each lobby for each race
    • 5 points awarded for the person whose fastest lap is ranked 3rd of all fast lap times for each lobby for each race
    • See chart for points per position

Other series details

What Lobby/Room am I in?

What Lobby/Room am I in?

What Lobby/Room am I in?

Week 1

  • For the first week, please join whichever lobby has the fewest number of participants. We will have 2 lobbies (or a 3rd if more than 32 people).
  • Week 1 will use Group A points, but Group B ruleset
  • If there are 2 lobbies, the top 2 from the prior season should split into separate lobbies. If there are 3 lobbies, the top 3 from the prior season should split between the 3 lobbies.

Weeks 2 through 6

  • For Weeks 2 through 6, anyone in the Top 12 in points will join 1 dedicated lobby (Group A)
  • Anyone outside of the top 12 (including new people or people who missed the first week) will join whichever Group B lobby has the fewest number of participants and/or are encouraged to split evenly between the 2 lobbies. There are typically 2 Group B lobbies, but this might shrink to 1 if attendance is low - any announcements made in Discord will be official.
  • Tiebreakers:
    • If there is a tie in points for any position going beyond the top 12 (example, 2 people tied for 12th, 3 people tied for 11th, etc.), they will still stay in Group A assuming we don't have a tie which exceeds the room cap (16).
    • Any tie beyond 16th impacting room seedings will dictate that participants would run in Group B for that week.

Finale Rules

  • Group A for the Season 7 Finale will be the top 12 in points (factoring drops). Positions 13-20 will participate in a 10 minute qualifier at 8pm ET, with the 4 fastest joining the Group A finale, gridded in order of qualifying time and not points. The rest will join Group B lobbies.
  • Group A for the Season 8 Finale will be the top  in points (factoring drops) and 7 people from the Playoffs.
  • Group B and Group C will self-select lobbies. We used to divide it up, but it's a pain so everyone gets to run on Group B points for season 6.
  • Tiebreaking procedure:
    • If there is a tie leading up to the Finale for who makes Group A, it will be based on whoever has more total points (not factoring drops).
    • If there is still a tie and it creates a challenge to the number of people able to enter a lobby (example, 2 people tied for 16th place, therefore exceeding the limits of the A room), both people will move to the B room.
    • For starting position in the race if there is still a tie, it will be done by whoever had the most points in the prior week. If there's still a tie, it will be from the week prior, with the process repeating for any subsequent ties. If there is still a tie going all the way back to the start of the season for each race, both people owe Alex Piehl a beer and they'll do a 1 lap qualifying challenge at a track/car combo announced by Alex Piehl 1 hour before the start of the Finale race, with the fastest person getting the higher seeding.
  • Room reseeding:
    • This is too much work and Alex isn't doing it anymore. Sorry not sorry.
